What Yardsign does

Yardsign helps home-service companies (like roofers) learn which households visited their website, so they can follow up. Our customers add a small piece of code to their websites. When you visit one of those sites, the code tells us.

What we collect

  • From the visit: your IP address (we store a scrambled version, not the address itself, after 72 hours), your internet provider, rough location (city, state, ZIP), device and browser type, the pages you looked at, and a cookie that lets us recognize your browser next time.
  • From data providers: we may match the visit with information from third-party data companies to find a household name, mailing address, phone number, and email.
  • From public records: we may add public property information, like the year a home was built.

When we do not try to identify you

  • Your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
  • You are on cell data, a VPN, or Apple Private Relay.
  • You appear to be outside the United States, or in a state we do not operate in (currently California).
  • You have opted out.
  • We are not confident in the match.

Who gets it

Only the company whose website you visited. We do not sell it to anyone else, and we never show a visitor's identity on a public page. We use service providers (hosting, payments, data providers) who work for us under contract.

How long we keep it

Visit records: up to 13 months. Matches: for as long as the customer keeps their account. Opt-out records: forever, so we keep honoring them.

Your choices

Opt out here. We will delete what we have that is tied to your email and stop identifying you on every site that uses Yardsign. You can also turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. To ask what we have about you, or to have it deleted, email privacy@tryyardsign.com.
